Rella the Woodcutter is an Italian musician who has for years made many kinds of music: both based on more traditional song structure and more experimental drone. This LP released in January goes to the first mentioned category although there is also some more experimental touch in there. The music is mostly pretty minimalistic, peaceful and spiritual and has gained influences from many decades and various music styles like blues, folk and psychedelia. The guy has a emotional, touching voice that suits the music very well and the main instrument is guitar. The 33-minute-long album that has 10 tracks also features friends helping out occasionally. The tracks are usually just from under two-minute to three-minute in length but there a couple of longer ones in there too like the last, over eight-minute, hypnotic piece ”Drugtime Family” that is probably my favorite. The sonic world and production are quite primitive and home-made and as such the album makes a very pleasant listen. There are only 300 copies made of the vinyl so act fast if you can still find a copy!
