Been Obscene: Night O’Mine
Elektrohasch Schallplatten (EH 153)

I wasn’t that impressed with The Magic Temple Dance, the debut album by Been Obscene from Austria, but I must say that their stoner/alternative rock has gone in a better direction on this second album released late 2011. The rather melodic, at times heavy and even tightly rocking music still occasionally brings to mind Colour Haze and QOTSA, sometimes there’s also some grunge influences. The album also includes some bit more difficult rhythms and progressive touch as well as more atmospheric stuff like the instrumental ”Memories of Salvation” and the album’s last piece, the Pearl Jam styled ballad “Alone”. The boys do write relatively good songs and can play, but somehow this band still doesn’t rise above the masses.
