Zoomonk & Zelig Concrete: On Time

Self-released CD-R EP
 This EP from last year is a limited edition of 160 hand-numbered copies and features Zoomonk enforced with Mother Goose’s singer. All the six, quite short tracks are written by Zoomonk’s main man Petri Parkkali (guitar, drum machine, synthesizer, stylophone) and Zelig Concrete (vocals, lyrics) and the quite experimental music has sucked in influences from Silver Apples, Neu! and Suicide to Einsturzende Neubauteniin, The Minimal Wave Tapes and Hungry Ghosts. The EP also features Tommi Loippo (bass) and Thomas Schärer (piano and Mellotron on the first, more peaceful track “Bunny & Turtle). The going is pretty experimental, repetitive and even a bit psychedelic but I just don’t really get it. The DIY and lo-fi esthetic of old times still has its charm. The second to last track “Hiding Under Water” is closer to noise I guess.
