I have previously reviewed a couple of discs by Arizona-based producer/multi-instrumentalist Terry Daun so some of the Psychotropic Zone readers might already be familiar with him. This new CD has 8 instrumental rock/fusion tracks with some progressive and psychedelic elements and since it’s only 26 minutes in length I guess we should call it a mini album. Daun has written the music and produced the album by himself and he also plays most of the instruments. Five of the tracks also feature guitarist Peter Manno which gives Daud’s music a nice extra kick. The best pieces are the dark, creeping and hypnotic “My Part” that has some great keyboard solos and the trance/electro influenced “Babys Bottom” that bubbles in a psychedelic way and brings to mind Ozric Tentacles a bit with its sequencers and also includes some pretty heavy guitar. A couple of the tracks are too 80’s AOR/fusion styled to my taste, but also those are done well and with style. Daun is convincing at his most psychedelic, but as a whole the disc is perhaps a bit too polished and clean.
