Spin 1ne 2wo: S/T
|
Voiceprint Records (MPVP017CD)
In 1993 the famous rock and jazz session guitarist Phil Palmer formed the band Spin 1ne 2two taking along other well-known musicians (Paul Carrack, Steve Ferrone, Rubert Hine ja Tony Levin). The band didn’t last long and only recorded this one album that includes 12 classic rock covers by bands and artist like Bob Dylan, Blind Faith, Steely Dan, Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Led Zeppelin. At its best the album works okay and for example Cream’s “White Room” sounds handsome but many of the tracks are watered down to totally idle AOR. Missing from the song list on the back cover of this re-release, the instrumental version of “Black Dog” rocks pretty nicely as does the other Led Zeppelin cover “Kasmir”. All in all, I think this in every case is a pretty trivial album and I, for one, can’t see what the point is.
