Don’t panic if you missed the limited vinyl edition of the eponymous debut album by Swedish band Hills, since Sulatron Records sure knows what is high-quality psychedelic rock and has now released this album on CD. Even if you have one of those 300 privately pressed vinyl copies this CD is still worth getting since it includes two excellent bonus tracks. Also the track order is a bit different, but you can still get a clear picture of the other tracks by reading my vinyl review over here. The first bonus cut is the over 12-minute-long, rather fast kraut jam entitled ”Schlaraffenland” where the guitarist paints at times very experimental and psychedelic soundscapes over the monotonic and hypnotic rhythm section according to the best kraut rock traditions. It’s really nice to get to hear this song too! Finally we have “Messias” that is a shorter, slow and really hallucinatory trip that has been previously releases also o the album’s cassette version. The atmosphere is really psychedelic and this sure is a fantastic ending for the CD edition of this killer album! I’m really looking forward to some new material by these boys…
