uSSSy: Oko
|
RAIG (R054)
Phew, here comes some peculiar stuff. uSSSy is a Moscow-based band featuring two guys from math-core band I Am Above on the Left (Artem Galkin: guitars, oud, feedbacks and Pavel Eremeev: baritone guitar, feedbacks, samples, voice) together with Prea Hrada drummer Pavel Bogachev. Oko is the band’s second album and includes eight tracks’ worth of avant-core, harsh drone, experimental noise and psychedelic and heavy blasting. The music doesn’t have conventional singing but human voice has been used occasionally as one of the noise-making instruments. This is extremely intense stuff and includes for example lots of blast beat as well as dark, twisted moods thus also bringing to mind the most psychedelic black metal bands. The more peaceful track ”Biologican Investigation” and the ending of the album’s last piece ”Watershed” also have some Persian folk elements, but other than that they pretty much go with full speed and screaming guitars apart from few short, more serene sections. The tracks go from one direction to another in a totally unpredictable manner. Usually this kind of extreme noise rock mostly just makes me nervous but this is also so psychedelic that I realized I like it. Wild stuff…
