Be Maledetto Now!: Abisso del Passato pt.1/pt.2
Boring Machines (BM014/015)

Be Maledetto Now! is a duo project by two Italian solo artists (operating indivudually as Be Invisible Now! and Maledetto/Nihil Is Me) making sci-fi spirited, experimental and minimal ambient music using mostly analog synthesizers and effects along with some treated guitar and various objects. The duo’s first release was a tape in 2006 and this interesting double-release appeared in late 2009. The first part is a 180 g vinyl and the second part a CD and these both are little over 30 minutes long. The resolution on the cover of the vinyl’s promo CD version that was sent to reviewers is so low that I can’t read the track titles but there are three of them, anyway. The first one has a bit melancholic mood and there is not really that much happening. The second track goes into a bit more cosmic and darker spheres. The vinyl’s B side is a 17-minute number that is very quiet, exquisite and pretty psychedelic sonic landscape all the way. Also the part two has three tracks. ”I Ribelli Dei 50 Soli Part 2” would be well suited for a soundtrack to an outer space journey, and the atmosphere on the track ”The Heaven Makers Part VI-IX” is cosmic and floating, as well. The influence of Philip K. Dick and androids might be apparent on the album’s last piece ”Tutti Quei Simulacr!” where humanity feels to be somehow combined with machines. This album leaves you in a bit cold but spacey state and it’s challenging but also rewarding to find the numerous micro sounds from the slowly evolving sonic web that at first seems very stabile.
