Luminance Ratio: Like Little Garrisons Besieged
Boring Machines (BM 016)

Luminance Ratio is a collaborative effort of five Italian sound artists (Andrea ics Ferraris: guitars, cymbals, electronics, field recordings, brushes, contact mics, pedals, Eugenio Maggi: drones, electronics, turntables, field recordings, Gianmaria Aprile: objects, editing, mix and mastering, Luca Mauri: guitar and pedals, Luca Sigurtà: tapes, drones, analog devices) making peaceful, quiet and experimental music. Mauri and Sigurtà are apparently not featured on this CD, though. This is their debut album and its atmospheres vary in between minimal ambient, light drone and free folk not forgetting the experimental and psychedelic dimensions. This about 55-minute-long disc has six tracks that vary from under six to over 20 minutes in length. The last and longest track is a Paul Bradley remix where he has used bits of all the other tracks. At times the guitars (both electric and acoustic) are more audible, at times the electronics or field recordings are in the foreground. The whole album is very tranquil, pleasant and relaxing stuff and it works extremely well for chilling out or meditation. So why don’t you just lay down, close your eyes and let your imagination create the suitable visuals for this wonderful, floating music.
