Gunslingers is a French band that according to their own words play ”massacre rock”. Their fast, fierce, rough, primitively recorded hodgepodge of punk, noise and psychedelia undeniably is pretty much pure butchery. I didn’t like that much their debut album that mostly just made me nervous. This second album that was recorded live with an analogue four-track recorder has the same effect on me. It seems that this trio has taken quite a lot of amphetamines or they all have ADHD. Luckily the album lasts just for half an hour and I can take that amount of this hasty freak-out. All the six tracks are at least relatively fast and also include some experimental touch especially on behalf of the guitarist/singer Gregory Raimo. This sure has a certain psychedelic vibe, but mainly they just rush forward without any clear aim or plan. I guess you could call this acid punk although I think the band’s diet includes more stimulants than hallucinogens. Worth checking out if you fancy deranged, snotty and fast speeding.
